Gamestop: LBP To Arrive “Tommorrow Afternoon”
Reports are that Gamestop has called several (if not all) people who reserved of LittleBigPlanet, a game that was delayed due to a few background songs that were deemed offensive, saying that the game would be available tomorrow afternoon. Well, I can safely confirm that the call is true, since I have the game reserved, and I have gotten the call on my answering machine, as well.
GameDaily Shows Their Ignorance…AGAIN!!
It does seem that when someone shows ignorance, they show it quite often. We usually don’t have any problem with one’s opinion as long as that opinion is based on facts about what they are forming such an opinion on. When they don’t do that, they end up looking like damn fools. Either that or laying for a team that depends on them to bend the rules to the other team look vacillating and impotent, and the one they are playing for seem like the only option. GameDaily has been accused of either-slash-both in recent months (not to mention the already numerous criticisms about the AOL-maintained site), with the Metal Gear Solid 4 debacle in which Chris Buffa first wrote a review that was full of errors about the game, and then when called on it, complained that it was the score he gave MGS4 that they was mad about, not what he tried to pass off as facts that he based his opinion on. While it’s not Chris Buffa, it’s the site, as once again, GameDaily gives an erroneous review of Socom: Confrontation. No, the game is not perfect, but neither is the review they gave, and we have a contributor to GG that can prove it.
Does Microsoft’s “Stealing” Sony Franchises Hurt Their Own Credibility?
The latest one was Tekken 6, but it didn’t start there, and with John Schappert’s comments to MCV today about him wanting MGS4 for his system, the X360, it probably won’t be the last one they will try for. However, while there are pros to this situation in that more people will be able to play these games, is there a downside to all of this? I certainly think so, and it lies with one simple notion: That by continuing to persuade these third party companies to make the franchises that made the Playstation 2 the clear winner multiplatform and giving MS exclusive perks, Microsoft is instead hurting their own credibility and admitting that without these franchises, they can’t compete as well as they would if they didn’t have them.
Now, before you flame me for being a PS3 fanboy (I’m not) and dismiss this as “flame bait”, hear me out on this one.
NPD Sept. Sales Are In: No Huge Surprises
September 2008 was a slow month for consoles and games, with only Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and the XBox 360 price cut taking effect being the only worthwhile events happening, along with a nationwide financial crisis that could’ve hurt all sales figures on all platforms.
Schappert: MGS4 Possible On 360
Wait…WHAT?
According to what he said to MCV today, XBox Live’s vice president John Schappert had said, “I’m certainly in the fan club that would love to see Kojima-san’s masterpiece come our way. It would be wonderful to play Metal Gear Solid on the Xbox. It could become another of the many franchises that started their life on another console that are now coming our way.”
Not So Fast: Just What Is Morningstar Saying?
It got reignited today: The Metal Gear Solid 4 to 360 rumor. IGN was reporting that a Japanese financial site called Morningstar quoted a Konami public relations representative as saying, “We’re actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360.” Of course, that is using their quote that they got from whatever translation program they used, because the two main web site translation services, Yahoo’s Babalfish and Google Translation, each had just enough differences in how the Japanese Kanja was translated to leave a little doubt in just what that quote meant. Before we even HEAR the official word from Konami or Hideo Kojima himself (they have yet to comment), we would like to share with you a few details about how this was translated, and you make the call (of course, with our usual sarcasm and smart-alleckness).
Megaman 9 and What Capcom Should Make for November
Okay, I will admit to my fanboysim. I think it’s about time that I just came out and said it: I am a huge….Megaman fanboy. I’ve done the 8 original MM games and most of the X games (I’ve still to do Command Mission and X7). I was too poor at the time to play the Game Boy MM games (and now I can’t find them or that Anniversary Collection of them ANYWHERE), and I’ve yet to commit to playing GBA games without the GameBoy player (I have a DS, but not used to playing them on that yet), so the GBA and DS MM games I’ve yet to play (I should get to it, though, if I want to keep my title). However, I loved everything about the series since I was a kid. Discovered the series through Mega Man 3, and then played MM2, and then MM (thus, went backwards). I loved all of them that I’ve ever played (even some many didn’t see as really good, such as MM4).
So I bought Megaman 9 the second I got the opportunity, and it was about the only thing I played until I beat it, and now I’m getting the DLC for it and I’m trying to get all the challenges done. Capcom has said that they wanted to release DLC for the month of October, including a special stage that could include Bass (just pure speculation based upon something at the end of the same, see if you notice it). However, November could be a good month for the game’s longevity, as well, if they do it right. Here’s some of the things I would add if I were running the show:
Bitbag swoons, but missed the point.
Yeah, I heard you, I heard you loud and clear. I’m sure gamers want to talk about the real issues, like games. Yet instead, I have to spend my time on this once more. Trust me, I really don’t want to answer to this, but seeing as how the first GG Media Watch drew some major ire, especially from what one particular website wanted to say about me and GG on their Warzone podcast.
Trust me, word gets around a LOT here in the gaming world, especially when you act like a gangster that doesn’t know two things about how to actually call anyone out on their crap. Especially when you are accused of doing things yourself that you are blaming everybody else for. Yes, I’m talking directly to you, Bitbag. This is going to be long and drawn out, like your podcast that had too many things for me to respond to briefly. Congratulations, though, Mr. Davis, you made me have to answer you instead of using my first DP Thought on GG to talk about something that mattered to everyone else in the industry. I get to waste my precious time on you..AGAIN!
Home Open Beta confirmed for this calendar year
Yeah, we’ve all heard this before: Sony confirms Home Open Beta for this year. But this time, we do think they mean it.
Because this story came from a less-”gamesy” website (if that’s a word)? Not really, but many signs seem to point to the same thing.
Kotaku, you never cease to amaze anyone
The picture on this article kind of says it all: Kotaku’s Brian Ashcraft, trying to get a friendly handshake from Microsoft Japan’s spearhead Takashi Sensui, and Sensui seems not willing to return the gesture.
Maybe he realized that the story that such a picture would be within was kind of filled with some holes that Kotaku never cared to correct. Then again, when have they ever been that accurate?
